دكاكين المطبة

وهي مجموعة من الدكاكين في حي (المطبة) قديماً وموقعه شرق البلد

Al-Mutabbah Shops

Those are a group of shops, in old times, in Al-Mutabbah district, east of the town.

عماريَّة

وهي مظلة من الجريد والحصران يستظل بها الباعة قديماً في الصفاة وأماكن أخرى

Amariyah

It was a parasol made of mats and palm leaves where sellers sat in its shade in Safat square and other places.

مسقف الشيوخ والبراحة

وفيما يذكره المؤرخون أن هذا المسقف هو للمغفور له الشيخ جابر مبارك الصباح حاكم الكويت الثامن وبجواره سكنه الخاص ثم عادت ملكيته إلى الشيخ أحمد الجابر الصباح وأبنائه

The Sheikhs Arch and the Yard 

According to Kuwait's historians this Arch was of the late Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Sabah, the eighth ruler of Kuwait, besides it was his private lodging, afterwards, its ownership was transferred into Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his sons.

قهوة بوناشي

وهي من أشهر المقاهي في الكويت إذ يرتادها الأمراء وتجار البلد وتقع أمام مسجد السوق وسوق المناخ

Bunashi Cafe 

That was one of the most famous cafes in Kuwait and its clients were the emirs and the merchants. Its venue was opposite to the Souk mosque and Souk Al-Manakh.

تنور خبازة الفريج

بعض الأحياء لا تخلو من بيت صاحبته خبازة فيذهب الناس إليها بعجينهم في تنورها مقابل أجر زهيد

The Oven of the District Baker 

The owners of some houses in some quarters were female bakers. People carried their dough to them to bake it in their oven at a low price.

مواد الزينة للنساء

صندوق يحيط من حوله ما تستخدمه المرأة من مواد لزينتها مثل حنة وسمه وسدر وكحل ومشط…إلخ

A box surrounded by women's cosmetics such as hinna (camphere), wasmah (black tint), Sidr, eyeliner, comb etc.

على الصيري

والصيري سلم قوي مصنوع من الخشب يؤدي إلى سطح المنزل يضعه البعض عوضاً 

On the Siri (ladder)

The siri was a strong ladder made of wood and led to the house roof in stead of building stairs.

نشر إعلانات الدولة قديماً

كانت بعض الدوائر الحكومية قديماً تنشر إعلاناتها وبياناتها الموجهة لأفراد الشعب على حائط محاذ لدكاكين الصرافين إذ لا صحافة ولا إذاعة

Advertising the Government Statements in the past

In the past, some government departments nailed their advertisements and statements to the people on a wall beside the moneychangers' stalls since newspapers or radios did not then exist.

والكنادرة هم أقوام طيبون نزحوا إلى الكويت واختص بعضهم بنقل الماء لبيعه على الأهالي
